The athletes also train one hour per day, four days a week, for the 10-month school year, in our large and fully equipped Victus Academy Training Centre. Strength and Conditioning is a critical part of the athlete’s development experience. Here at Victus Academy, Director of Athletic Performance Scott Atkins (former Kitchener Rangers strength coach and Director of Sports Performance at Twist Fitness) is responsible for the programming, coaching and nutritional guidance of all Victus athletes.
The Victus Academy training experience begins at the commencement of the school year with a thorough assessment protocol, which helps Coach Atkins and his team develop individualized training programs that are tailored to the athletes physiological needs, limitations and competitive game schedules. Each athlete, at each grade level does have unique developmental and physical requirements needed to optimize their development. Our staff works closely with each athlete to ensure quantifiable progressions will be made, which will be demonstrated through regular feedback reports prepared for the athletes and families.
Developing an athlete involves more than a hard workout. It involves careful and well thought out planning, progression schemes and genuine care for the athletes. Anyone that has worked with Coach Atkins before knows how much he cares for his athletes and that is what makes the Victus Strength and Conditioning experience so special.
