Victus Academy is comprised of 2 very important features: a private school education with small class sizes and a high level hockey skill-development program run by professional coaches. We highlight the important features of both that we offer and why Victus Academy is the right opportunity for dedicated student-athletes.
Why a Private School
We all know the advantages of private schools. Victus Academy has:
- Small class sizes (a student to teacher ratio of under 15:1) allowing students greater access to teachers and resources;
- A schedule designed to accommodate the demanding hockey schedules of the students;
- Greater flexibility than public schools and not subject to labour unrest;
- Educators that share the vision and philosophy of the hockey academy;
- All the resources to allow its students to proceed to post secondary education in North America, including counselling and guidance, SAT preparation and college scholarship services.
Why a Private Hockey Program
Hockey is an extremely demanding sport. Victus Academy, through its professional coaches and trainers:
- Customizes the on-ice, puck shooting and strength and conditioning program to be specific for each grade based on a 10-month program;
- Is a complete and intensive program, 2 hours a day, 4 days a week, 10 months a year;
- Relieves the burden currently placed on parents to supplement their child’s hockey program with additional hockey practices or training sessions;
- Implements regular testing to ensure that the milestones and standards are met;
- Allows the students to practice with other players from other centers, which will allow them to develop more fully as hockey players;
- Allows the students to complete their hockey training program during the day, which frees up their nights and weekends, allowing them to spend more time with family, friends, and pursuing other interests.
Hockey players simply do not get enough ice-time and the ice-time they do get is not focused on skills development. As well, rep hockey players have limited practices, because much of their ice-time is devoted to games. Victus Academy supplements this by providing a significant amount of additional ice-time. Bear in mind, that one efficient practice provides players with as much skill development as ten games.
Hockey is a demanding sport; let’s make no mistake about it. There are many gifted hockey players out there. The game continues to evolve and the bar continues to be raised. How do you keep up? Victus Academy provides the tools for student athletes to achieve their goals, both academically and athletically, so they will not only compete, but thrive at the next level.
This is what it takes.
