Staff Profile: Chuck Williams – Principal

Chuck Williams is in his 3rd year as Principal of Victus Academy. He believes that Victus helps student-athletes because

“it combines academic achievement with athletic achievement. On the academic side, we have Ministry-certified teachers who are at a very high-level making it a great academic program for the students to follow. Built and integrated within their day is a high-level, elite athlete training with professional trainers on the ice and in the gym.”

Chuck feels that his job as Principal at Victus Academy is twofold; to ensure that the students all achieve the highest level academically and athletically as possible, but also to promote the students both academically into post-secondary education (or any other program/career they choose to follow) and athletically in the hockey world to the highest level possible for their hockey skill.

Chuck grew up in Niagara Falls playing pond hockey as a kid. When he started to teach in Kitchener he was the hockey coach of the school team and after that his own children got into playing hockey with all three of them being goalies. With his children playing hockey it got him involved in the organization of the hockey world like minor hockey, Junior hockey and provincial hockey organizations. He became very interested in this and became connected to the NCAA coaching staff of all of the D1 and D3 schools as well as U Sports (formerly OUA) here in Ontario. He has a Minor in Zoology and Botany from the University of Toronto and remained there to study to be a high school science and elementary teacher. Upon joining Victus Academy, Chuck felt that his experience as an elementary school Principal and being certified for high school, along with his hockey background, made it a good fit for him with both his hockey and academic background.

“I’m very proud to be part of the Victus Academy family and I know that we’re doing a lot of good for our students and we have great school spirit here.”
– Chuck Williams

President Matthew Schmidt believes that “Principal Williams genuinely wants our students to succeed in academics and athletics. He has a significant background in education and ensures high academic standards and that the classroom environment is conducive to student learning. Given his background in hockey as well, he is uniquely able to provide guidance in both academics and athletics and Victus Academy is very fortunate to have him as part of our school.”
