Staff Profile: Aaron Davidson – Assistant Strength Coach

Aaron Davidson is a recent graduate of Victus Academy and now joins Victus as an assistant strength coach. Aaron said that

“Victus Academy helps student-athletes balance the workload of school during the day and hockey at night. You learn time management and how to keep everything organized. The school is all close with each other [and] being a smaller school it’s like a family, you make a bond with everyone.”

When he was still in school he chose to come to Victus because he really wanted to be a part of the traveling U18 Prep Team they had at the time, make new friends, to see his friends that already attend, and he loved the idea of being on the ice and in the gym every day.

When Aaron is in the strength room or helping out on the ice, his coaching philosophy follows after NHL player Mark Scheifele. Every time he is training he wants to get better at one thing whether it’s his shooting, puck movement or learning new workouts in the gym and that is what Aaron follows when he is coaching others or when he is training himself.

Aaron grew up in Plattsville, ON and started playing hockey at the age of 3. He first got into hockey from watching his brother play. From there, he took skating lessons and then went to play AAA Peewee in Cambridge. After his Minor Midget year, he was drafted to the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack in the 12th round (235 overall). He then joined Victus Academy, playing on both Kitchener’s Major Midget team and on the Victus Academy U18 Prep team. He then joined the Stratford Warriors Junior B team and is now in his second year with them. Aaron continues to play hockey because he likes building friendships with his teammates, enjoys being on the ice every day, seeing where he can still improve and hopefully make a career out of it. He wants to see where hockey can take him and he is planning on going to school in the sports or health fields, such as Sport Management, and would like to play for the school’s hockey team.

Victus Academy President, Matthew Schmidt, says of Aaron:

“He is very dedicated and passionate about hockey and training, but he is also an extremely good role model and mentor for our student-athletes. He is always respectful and, in turn, gets that respect back from the coaches, staff, and his students alike. In his first year at Victus Academy, he has carried himself as a true professional and his ability to pass on his knowledge as a strength coach has been incredible, especially knowing what it was like to be a Victus student himself. We are proud to have him as an alumnus that has returned to give back to the next generation of students.”
