5 Victus Athletes Drafted to the OHL – 4 in the First 5 Rounds

Victus Academy had another successful showing at the OHL Priority Selection Draft, having 5 student-athletes in our Grade 10 class get selected!

Madden Steen, at Victus since Grade 9, went first in the 3rd Round – 50th overall – to the Owen Sound Attack. From the Owen Sound Attack website, their Director of Player Development Sean LaFortune says: “He’s a two way defender. He plays a very simple yet efficient offensive game. He has good feet, he’s hard to play against and he’s going to slot into the lineup from day one, and work his way up from there.” We’re very excited for Madden and you can hear from Madden in Owen Sound’s “Meet the Picks” by clicking here.

Evan Klein, at Victus since Grade 7 in our inaugural year, went in the 4th Round – 75th overall – to the Saginaw Spirit. Evan started with us playing house league/select and year after year rose to become one of the dominant players in the Alliance. His shot, particularly, stood out even at an early age. Evan scored 23 goals and 41 points in 30 games, leading his Waterloo Wolves Minor Midget team in both categories and both were in the top 8 in the Alliance. Evan can be heard on 519 Sports Online by clicking here and in the Waterloo Chronicle here. Evan also recently signed with the Saginaw Spirit.

Cedricson Okitundu, in his first year at Victus, went in the 4th Round – 76th overall – to the Owen Sound Attack. The Gatineau, Quebec native is attending Victus while playing for the Waterloo Wolves Minor Midget Team this year and was one of two Waterloo defensemen to make the Alliance All Star Game. Cedricson can be heard on 519 Sports Online by clicking here.

Stevie Leskovar, in his first year at Victus, went in the 5th Round – 95th overall – to the Peterborough Petes. The Cambridge Hawks defenseman led his team with 25 points in 31 games. Stevie’s draft day experience can be read about by clicking here.

Dylan Grover, in his first year at Victus, went in the 8th Round – 143 overall – to the Sarnia Sting. The Rochester, New York goaltender is attending Victus while playing for the Kitchener Jr. Rangers Minor Midget Team. He led his team in GAA in both the regular season and the playoffs, getting the majority of the starts. Dylan can be heard on 519 Sports Online by clicking here.
