Victus hosts Charity Hockey Game vs Waterloo Region Police raising money for Special Olympics Ontario!
On November 20, from 2:00-3:00pm, Victus Academy hosted the Waterloo Region Police Service (WRPS) in a Charity Hockey game here at Sportsworld Arena to support the Special Olympics of Ontario. It was a thoroughly entertaining game between our high school students and the police, resulting in some creative moves, great (possibly lucky) goaltending, and ultimately a 13-12 shootout victory to the WRPS!
We are thankful to NHL official Andrew Smith and OHL official Morgan MacPhee for volunteering, the WRPS Ceremonial Brass for performing the national anthem (organized by Tom Bileski), Darren Stevenson (519 Sports Online) and 107.5 Dave Rocks for covering the event, Constable Greg McCourt and Todd Hoffman for organizing the event from the respective organizations, and all other volunteers for contributing their time to this event.
We are proud to announce that students, staff, and families contributed a total of $880 through pledges and donations to the Special Olympics of Ontario and this doesn’t include the donations collected by the WRPS from their K9 calendars and stuffed animals. We are also still waiting on the total from the Mike Hoffman autographed jersey up for silent auction, which will put our Victus contribution over $1000! Great job!
